With radio disappearing and technology allowing anyone with an iPod to become their own mixologist, the term DJ is not what is used to be.  One man who seems to be not only disproving this theory but continually creates  new musical movements, Giles Peterson, should be a name that 90% of music fans on this planet know.  With his BBC Radio 1 show, his numerous album projects and DJ gigs, he has branded himself as someone that is a  trusted sign of quality when it comes to music.  After reading this article in the Irish Times, it is clear he has no plans of quitting, in fact he just might have opened a Pandora’s box of Cuban musicians to the world.

To bring this one step closer to the Indianapolis community, a gentleman by the name of Craig “Dodge” Lile and his band of  music freaks at My Old Kentucky Blog, has been creating their own army of followers in the rock scene for the last 5+ years.  With articles in the New York Times, Rolling Stone magazine and even an cease and desist from KFC (related to MOKB’s previous logo), MOKB means serious business.  And like Peterson, Dodge is heard on his own radio show on SIRIUS XM Satellite Radio, Channel 26 on SIRIUS/Channel 43 on XM, every Tuesday at Noon EST and again at Midnight.   His jet-setting is limited to the annual SXSW Festival or Monolith Music Festival but all of the hardworking MOKB crew puts on a smorgasbord of live shows in Indianapolis(MOKB Presents).  It’s through these shows and the new project, Laundromatinee, that MOKB has created the same quality music brand to not  only it’s loyal fans but the rest of the world.MOKB_creature_world13

Now if I can just get him to start covering Jazz the way he does rock……
